Chelsea Smith Reed

Chelsea Reed is an award-winning leader with decades of experience in business development and philanthropy. Together, she and her partner, Michael Smith Reed, have spearheaded and developed ventures in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors; collaborating to empower staff, inspire leaders, and provide beneficial cultural impact. She is proud to be the Mayor of her hometown, the City of Palm Beach Gardens, and to chair several boards focused on transportation, sustainability, smart growth, and leadership. Chelsea enjoys providing student and professional mentorship and is a frequent public speaker and panelist.
Chelsea attended Florida Atlantic University and the University of Florida, earning a degree in psychology and certifications in leadership and management. She was recently chosen as one of the 2023-2024 Palm Beach 100 – Palm Beach County’s Most Influential Business Leaders by Palm Beach Illustrated. Her alma mater, The Benjamin School, recently named her Distinguished Alumnus Recipient for 2023. She is the recipient of a 2023 Home Rule Hero Award from Florida League of Cities, the 2022 Complete Streets Champion for Palm Beach County and was 1 of 20 nationally chosen elected officials for the 2022 Smart Growth America Champions Institute.
On behalf of the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency Chelsea serves chair of the Governing Board, the Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board, and Vice Chair of the Southeast Florida Transportation Council (SEFTC). She also serves as chair of the Smart & Connected Regional Task Force for Palm Beach North Chamber, 1st Vice President of the Board of Directors for Palm Beach County League of Cities and established the Palm Beach North Sustainability Subcommittee.
In addition, she chairs the Women’s Foundation Network of Elected Women, and serves as a member of the Benjamin School Alumni Council, Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park Board of Directors, Advisory Board to Resource Depot, Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council and Florida League of Cities.
Chelsea graduated Leadership Palm Beach County Class of 2020 and was honored with their Leadership Excellence Award for the Public Sector in 2022.
She is a dedicated mentor, advocate, volunteer, wife, parent, and friend. In her free time, she is a marathon, trail and ultra-relay runner, adventure traveler and water sport athlete.
