“Walt Disney one said, “the way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing,” I’ve always found the best way to become successful in life is to look at what successful people did and follow them. Otherwise, someone will come up with your idea and you’ll end up working for them.
16 years ago, I had a dream to start one of the first Concierge medical practices in Palm Beach County and one of the few concierge family medicine doctors in the country at that time ..I had been a practicing family physician for 10 years seeing on average 25 to 35 patients a day, five days a week. At the young age of 37,
I was so stressed and burnt out from medicine that I was ready to quit a profession that I loved and always wanted. My idea was to start an old-fashioned family doctor office providing house calls and bringing back medicine to the way it was in the 1940s and 1950s. Unlike most of the current concierge doctors that start with a large practice of a few thousand patients, I started with one patient, and I took my doctors bag and brochures and walked door-to-door in the neighborhoods surrounding Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens. Shaking hands and introducing myself at people’s doorstep like a vacuum salesman would have back in the day.
At that time, I was lucky enough to have one of my best friends, Dr. Michael Reed by my side at every step. Michael was not only a friend to me but an inspiration to help me grow my practice. Anytime I needed advice, support, or encouragement. Mike and his wife Chelsea were always there. His knowledge of running a successful business helped guide me to continue striving to get to what my dream practice was, and I never let anything, or anyone stop me from obtaining that…
Fast forward to 2023 and I now have one of the most successful Concierge Medical practices in Palm Beach County. Voted one of Jupiter’s “Top Docs” in 2022. I am no longer excepting new patients into my practice and see on average 5 to 10 patients a day and work only 32 hours a week. It was a long, hard road but I know in my heart without Michael Reed I wouldn’t be where I am today.
